Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious University Shuttle Driver to join our Campus Transportation team. This full-time, campus-based position offers stable hours and plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of passengers around the University of Louisville campus and designated off-campus routes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to passenger safety, and a friendly, professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate university shuttle buses on scheduled routes with punctuality and safety.
- Transport students, faculty, staff, and visitors to various campus locations and designated off-campus stops.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, university policies, and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist passengers with boarding and de-boarding, including those with disabilities, operating wheelchair lifts as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering passenger questions and providing directions when appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route status, delays, or incidents.
- Complete daily logs and incident reports accurately.
Required Skills
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work stable, pre-determined shifts, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating passenger buses or shuttles.
- Knowledge of the University of Louisville campus layout and surrounding areas.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
