Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Weekend Bindery Aide to join our production team in Salt Lake City. This part-time position is ideal for individuals looking for stable weekend work within the publishing sector. As a Bindery Aide, you will play a crucial role in the final stages of book production, ensuring that our products meet high-quality standards before reaching our customers. You will assist with various bindery tasks, maintaining an organized and efficient workspace. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain bindery equipment, including collators, stitchers, cutters, and folders, under supervision.
- Perform quality checks on finished products, identifying and rectifying any imperfections.
- Prepare materials for binding, including gathering, jogging, and stacking.
- Assist with packing and shipping finished books and other printed materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Assist other production staff as needed to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Handle materials carefully to prevent damage and waste.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a bindery, printing, or production environment.
- Familiarity with various types of paper and printing materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
