Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our esteemed mental health facility in Dade City, FL. This role offers a stable income and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals struggling with mental health challenges. The Psychiatric Nurse (RN) will provide direct nursing care to patients with psychiatric disorders, requiring specialized knowledge and skills in psychiatric nursing. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, and providing a therapeutic environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to patient advocacy and safety. You will work within a supportive interdisciplinary team focused on holistic patient recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications as prescribed, monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, promoting coping strategies and life skills.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment plans.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
- Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Accurately document patient observations, interventions, and responses to treatment.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
Required Skills
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to effectively manage stressful situations and respond to crises.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patience towards patients with mental health conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing.
- Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMH-RN).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or equivalent.
