Job Description

The Orange County Government is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Admin Clerk to provide essential administrative support across various government departments. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in public service, contribute to critical operations, and develop professional skills in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will assist with daily clerical tasks, maintain records, and support departmental functions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This is an on-site position located in Santa Ana, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general clerical duties including photocopying, scanning, filing, and data entry.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of reports, correspondence, and other documents.
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic files and record-keeping systems.
  • Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and assist visitors as needed.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Support departmental staff with scheduling, meeting coordination, and event logistics.
  • Utilize office software and equipment to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and documents.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a high school, college, or vocational program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of office procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office or administrative setting (volunteer, internship, or paid).
  • Familiarity with government operations or public sector work.
  • Experience with specialized database systems relevant to government functions.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish, given the location).
