Job Description
As a Human Movement Annotator (Sports) – Video Analysis, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our sports performance analytics by meticulously analyzing and tagging human movements in athletic footage. You will work with a dedicated team, utilizing specialized software to identify and label key actions, techniques, and events across various sports. Your precise annotations will directly contribute to advanced statistical models, player development insights, and strategic decision-making for our professional teams. This is an on-site position based in North York, where you will collaborate closely with our analytics and performance staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Frame-by-frame analysis of sports video footage to identify and tag specific human movements, actions, and events.
- Utilize proprietary and industry-standard annotation software with high accuracy and consistency.
- Adhere strictly to established annotation guidelines and protocols for data integrity.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and coaching staff to refine annotation methodologies.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of annotation tools and processes.
- Maintain a high volume of quality output within defined timelines.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of sports-specific movements and annotation techniques.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated passion for sports and a comprehensive understanding of rules and movements across various disciplines (e.g., basketball, hockey, soccer).
- Proficiency in using video analysis and annotation software (e.g., Dartfish, Hudl, KinaTrax, or similar platforms).
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in video analysis, sports data annotation, or performance analysis in an athletic context.
- Familiarity with advanced statistical concepts as applied to sports.
- Experience working with large datasets and ensuring data quality.
- Knowledge of different sport-specific analytical metrics.
