Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer combination in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Transport freight long distances between service centers, adhering to planned routes and schedules.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, accurately documenting findings.
- Ensure the proper loading and securing of freight to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate log books and all required paperwork, utilizing electronic logging devices (ELDs) as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations personnel, and other team members.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, maintaining a high level of safety awareness.
- Represent FedEx Freight professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A)
- HazMat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Minimum of 24 months (2 years) of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, including hours of service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform physical duties associated with truck driving (e.g., coupling/uncoupling trailers, inspecting cargo)
