Job Description
Advocate Aurora Health is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Weekend Student Maintenance Aide to join our Facilities team in Arlington Heights. This entry-level position is perfect for a student looking to gain practical experience in building maintenance and facilities operations while working a flexible weekend schedule. You will perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, support our skilled trades, and ensure our facilities remain in excellent condition. This is a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on skills in a supportive healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform light repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and minor patching.
- Assist skilled technicians with larger projects, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed throughout the facility.
- Conduct routine checks of building systems and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, workshops, and storage rooms.
- Respond to and complete basic service requests from various departments.
- Follow all safety protocols and facility guidelines.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of tools and their safe use.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, especially for weekend shifts.
- Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in high school, vocational school, or college.
- Prior experience with basic handyman tasks (e.g., at home, volunteer work).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
