Job Description
As a Royalty Collections Analyst with a strong finance focus, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the collection of royalties for Warner Music Group’s extensive catalog of musical works. This 100% remote position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of financial principles. You will be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reconciling royalty statements, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a passion for the music industry and an ability to navigate complex data sets.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and reconcile incoming royalty statements from various sources (e.g., digital platforms, PROs, licensees) against internal records.
- Identify discrepancies and pursue collections of underpaid or missing royalties.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses related to royalty revenue, trends, and forecasts.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Legal, Business Affairs, and Artist Relations, to resolve collection issues.
- Maintain accurate royalty collection data within financial systems.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to royalty revenue.
- Contribute to process improvements for royalty collection and reconciliation workflows.
- Stay informed about industry changes and new revenue streams impacting royalty collection.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably with exposure to royalty accounting or revenue recognition.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems.
- Knowledge of the music industry's royalty landscape and collection societies.
- Familiarity with intellectual property rights and licensing agreements.
- CPA or progress towards certification.
