Job Description
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Hot Shot Truckers to join our growing fleet. This high-demand role involves transporting time-sensitive and specialized freight using smaller, agile vehicles, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery. You’ll handle a variety of loads, from urgent parts to specialized equipment, often requiring direct, point-to-point transport. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate hot shot trucks (e.g., dually trucks with trailers, flatbeds, goosenecks) to transport freight across designated routes.
- Inspect vehicles and trailers for mechanical issues and safety compliance before and after each trip.
- Properly load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring all items are protected and accounted for.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records, and delivery documentation, including electronic logs (ELDs).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Manage time efficiently to meet tight deadlines and provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) or equivalent, with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Proven experience with towing various types of trailers and securing diverse cargo.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to use navigation tools and route planning software effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically as a Hot Shot Trucker.
- Experience with electronic logbooks (ELDs) and transportation management systems.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for roadside troubleshooting.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement or other specialized endorsements.
