Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Endoscopy Nurse (RN) to join our specialized clinic team in Warwick, RI. This is a full-time position focused exclusively on day shifts, offering an excellent work-life balance without night or weekend rotations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing various endoscopic procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, EGDs, and bronchoscopies.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including obtaining vital signs, administering sedation under physician direction, and ensuring informed consent.
- Monitor patients' physiological status, recognizing and responding to adverse reactions or complications promptly.
- Assist physicians with procedures, handling instruments, and ensuring a sterile environment.
- Educate patients and their families on post-procedure care, medication, and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of endoscopic equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional competency through continuing education.
Required Skills
- Current Rhode Island Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred upon hire or within 6 months.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an endoscopy unit, GI lab, or critical care setting.
- Proficiency in patient assessment, IV insertion, and medication administration.
- Strong understanding of endoscopic procedures, equipment, and infection control principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) certification.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and procedural advancements.
