Job Description

Are you a budding interior designer passionate about transforming commercial environments? tp bennett is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Interior Design Intern to join our dynamic team in Preston. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the fast-paced world of commercial interior design. You will work alongside experienced designers on various projects, contributing to conceptual development, space planning, material selection, and presentation preparation. This role is perfect for someone eager to learn, contribute, and make a tangible impact on real-world projects from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers with conceptual development and mood board creation for commercial projects.
  • Contribute to space planning and furniture layouts using CAD software.
  • Research and select suitable materials, finishes, and furniture based on project briefs and sustainability goals.
  • Prepare presentation materials, including renderings, drawings, and sample boards.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks, project documentation, and material library organization.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits, taking detailed notes and contributing to discussions.
  • Collaborate with architects and other specialists to ensure design integration and feasibility.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, and material properties.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both visual and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated passion for commercial interior design and a keen eye for detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an Interior Design, Architecture, or related program.
  • Basic knowledge of building regulations and accessibility standards.
  • Experience with Revit or other BIM software.
  • Portfolio showcasing design projects, even if academic or personal.
