Job Description
We are actively seeking highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to join various specialty teams across Houston Methodist. These roles encompass a broad spectrum of clinical settings, from inpatient to outpatient, surgical to primary care, allowing you to leverage your expertise in a challenging yet rewarding environment. You will work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care, drive clinical excellence, and contribute to our mission of leading medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
- Formulate diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications as authorized by law and practice guidelines.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, integrating results into patient management.
- Perform therapeutic procedures consistent with scope of practice and specialty protocols.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff and students.
Required Skills
- Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Texas.
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- National board certification relevant to specialty (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of experience in an advanced practice role within a relevant specialty.
- Previous experience in an academic medical center or large hospital system.
- Experience with Epic EHR system.
- Participation in professional organizations and committees.
