Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and curious AI Product Design Intern with a strong focus on UX/UI to join our innovative team in Burlington. This internship offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of artificial intelligence and user experience design within the fast-paced automotive technology sector. Under the guidance of experienced designers and product managers, you will contribute to the research, conceptualization, and design of AI-powered features, enhancing the usability and appeal of our next-generation digital products. This role is ideal for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience, refine their design skills, and explore the intersection of AI and human-centered design in a real-world setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers in conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights into user needs and behaviors related to AI features.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate business requirements and user insights into intuitive and engaging design solutions for AI-driven functionalities.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for various digital platforms (web and mobile), ensuring designs align with brand guidelines and technical feasibility.
- Participate in design critiques, present your work, and incorporate feedback effectively to iterate on designs.
- Support the development and maintenance of design systems and component libraries, with an emphasis on scalability and consistency across AI-integrated products.
- Learn and apply best practices in UX/UI design, information architecture, and interaction design, specifically in the context of AI applications.
- Contribute to documentation of design patterns, user flows, and specifications.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of UX/UI principles and user-centered design methodologies.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
- A portfolio (even if academic or personal projects) demonstrating design thinking and visual communication skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to or interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or data-driven product design.
- Experience with prototyping tools like InVision, Proto.io, or similar.
- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Experience with user research methods and tools.
