Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated recent graduate to join Kemin Industries as an Associate Chemist I. This program is designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship, equipping you with the foundational skills and practical experience needed for a successful career in industrial chemistry. You will work within a dynamic laboratory environment, supporting R&D, quality control, and product development initiatives, all while contributing to our mission of sustainably transforming the quality of life around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer titration).
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and thoroughly.
  • Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods under senior chemist guidance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), and quality standards.
  • Participate actively in the mentorship program, seeking guidance and feedback from experienced chemists.
  • Contribute to general lab upkeep, inventory management, and reagent preparation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry principles.
  • Hands-on experience with basic laboratory techniques and instrumentation (e.g., titrations, spectrophotometry, chromatography) gained through coursework or internships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and basic laboratory software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in an industrial laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, GLP).
  • Experience with statistical software for data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot minor instrument issues.
