Job Description

Dignity Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Board Certified Music Therapist to join our dedicated team in North Las Vegas, NV. This full-time, hospital-based position offers comprehensive benefits and the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient recovery and quality of life. As a Music Therapist, you will design and implement therapeutic music interventions to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of patients across various units, including oncology, palliative care, pediatrics, and rehabilitation. You will work as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, contributing to holistic patient care plans and fostering a healing environment through the power of music.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized music therapy treatment plans.
  • Facilitate group and individual music therapy sessions using various techniques (e.g., receptive listening, song writing, improvisation, lyric analysis).
  • Document patient progress, responses, and outcomes in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on the benefits and principles of music therapy.
  • Maintain therapy instruments and materials, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) from the CBMT.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved program.
  • Proficiency in playing guitar, piano, and singing.
  • Strong understanding of musical theory and its therapeutic applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and age groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an acute care hospital or medical setting.
  • Advanced training or certification in specialized music therapy techniques.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
