Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Correctional Facility Nurse to join our team in Fort Worth, Texas. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide essential healthcare services within a secure environment, working with a diverse patient population. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments for inmates upon intake and as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical staff, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate intervention as required.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
- Educate patients on health conditions, medication regimens, and self-care techniques.
- Manage chronic care clinics (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) and ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for both patients and staff.
- Collaborate with correctional officers and facility staff to ensure seamless integration of healthcare and security operations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff development programs.
Required Skills
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in medication administration and emergency response.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, secure environment.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a correctional, emergency room, or psychiatric setting.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize effectively.
