Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Correctional Facility Nurse to join our team in Fort Worth, Texas. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide essential healthcare services within a secure environment, working with a diverse patient population. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments for inmates upon intake and as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical staff, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate intervention as required.
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
  • Educate patients on health conditions, medication regimens, and self-care techniques.
  • Manage chronic care clinics (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) and ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for both patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with correctional officers and facility staff to ensure seamless integration of healthcare and security operations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff development programs.

Required Skills

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in medication administration and emergency response.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, secure environment.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a correctional, emergency room, or psychiatric setting.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations.
