Job Description
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Crisis Hotline Assistants. This is a fully remote, text-based role, providing critical support to individuals experiencing various forms of crisis. As an Assistant, you will be on the front lines, responding to incoming texts, offering active listening, empathy, and working to de-escalate crisis situations. You will follow established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of texters, providing them with resources and guidance towards further support. This role requires strong communication skills, emotional resilience, and a commitment to helping others in a fast-paced, digital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and empathetically to incoming crisis texts from individuals in need.
- Engage in active listening and utilize crisis intervention techniques to assess and de-escalate situations.
- Provide non-judgmental support, empathy, and validation to texters.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to ensure comprehensive support for texters.
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality protocols and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and concise records of interactions.
- Refer texters to appropriate external resources and follow-up services as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance crisis intervention skills.
- Work collaboratively within a remote team environment, ensuring seamless coverage and support.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written communication skills, with clear and concise expression.
- Strong empathy and active listening abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and in high-stress situations.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with online communication platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical boundaries.

- Reliable internet connection and a private workspace for remote work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in mental health support, crisis intervention, or a related field.
- Familiarity with various mental health conditions and crisis scenarios.
- Certifications in crisis counseling or peer support.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related human services field (or equivalent experience).
