Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Pharmacy Technician with a strong focus on home care to join our team in Wesley Chapel, FL. In this crucial role, you will support the efficient operation of our home care pharmacy services by managing the intake, preparation, and distribution of medical equipment and supplies for patients in their homes. You will work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the correct equipment in a timely manner, contributing directly to their recovery and quality of life at home. This position requires excellent organizational skills, a compassionate approach, and a thorough understanding of medical equipment and pharmaceutical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Process orders for DME, including respiratory equipment, mobility aids, and other home medical supplies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with pre-authorizations for DME as needed.
- Prepare, label, and package medical equipment and supplies for delivery to patient homes, maintaining sterile conditions where required.
- Conduct inventory management for DME, including ordering, stocking, and tracking equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on equipment as per manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Provide patient education on the proper use and care of DME, ensuring understanding and answering basic questions.
- Maintain accurate records of all equipment dispensed, returned, and serviced.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and patient care coordinators to optimize patient outcomes.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as AdventHealth policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with at least 1 year in DME or home health setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical software and inventory management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Familiarity with AdventHealth systems and protocols.
