Job Description
Join Amentum as an Emergency Response Driver, playing a critical role in specialized FEMA support operations. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, equipment, and critical supplies to disaster-affected areas. This position requires adaptability, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to supporting emergency response efforts under varying and sometimes challenging conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate various company vehicles, including light and medium-duty trucks, vans, and potentially larger vehicles, in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Transport essential personnel, equipment, and supplies to designated emergency response locations, often on an urgent basis.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, vehicle records, and incident reports as required by federal regulations and company procedures.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Collaborate effectively with FEMA personnel, other emergency responders, and internal teams to ensure seamless operational flow.
- Perform minor roadside maintenance or report significant mechanical issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and emergency procedures at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Driver's License (Class C or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain necessary endorsements (e.g., hazardous materials) if required for specific assignments.
- Proven ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently under diverse weather and road conditions.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform manual tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations.
- Flexibility to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, often with short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
- Previous experience in emergency services, logistics, or disaster response roles.
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) training (e.g., ICS 100, 200, 700, 800).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting vehicle issues.
