Job Description
As a Home Health Aide with BayCare HomeCare, you will be a vital part of our patient care team, providing essential support and companionship to individuals in their homes. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and observing and reporting changes in patient condition. Your compassionate care will directly contribute to our patients’ comfort, well-being, and recovery, allowing them to remain in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are eager to make a difference in the lives of others, offering comprehensive support and care with empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Provide assistance with ambulation and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying patient's living areas, changing linens, and ensuring a safe environment.
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary instructions, assisting with feeding as needed.
- Monitor and record vital signs as instructed by a supervising nurse.
- Observe and report any changes in the patient's physical condition, mental status, or behavior to the supervising nurse.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
- Assist with medication reminders, but not administer medications.
- Document care provided accurately and timely.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide (HHA) training program
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to lift and transfer patients safely
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency procedures
- Ability to speak Spanish
