Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Petroleum Draftsman to join our dynamic Energy team in Olathe, Kansas. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about leveraging Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and designers, assisting in the creation and modification of detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics for various petroleum and petrochemical projects. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge software and contribute to critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, plans, and layouts for petroleum facilities, pipelines, and related infrastructure using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Develop and maintain BIM models for complex oil and gas projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior designers to understand project requirements and translate conceptual designs into technical drawings.
  • Perform revisions and updates to existing drawings and models based on red-line markups and design changes.
  • Ensure all drafting work complies with company standards, industry codes, and client specifications.
  • Organize and maintain drawing files and project documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on constructability and technical details.
  • Learn and apply new drafting techniques and software tools as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Basic understanding of BIM principles and applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, P&IDs, and design specifications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with petroleum industry terminology and components.
  • Prior internship or academic project experience in an engineering or drafting capacity.
  • Experience with other 3D modeling software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) is a plus.
  • Understanding of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
