Job Description
Join Old Dominion Freight Line as a Local Pick-up and Delivery (P&D) Driver. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating commercial motor vehicles for the pick-up and delivery of LTL freight. This is a critical role ensuring our customers’ goods are transported on time and intact, playing a vital part in our robust supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local pick-up and delivery of LTL freight.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Load and unload freight using various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Verify freight count, condition, and correct labeling.
- Complete and maintain accurate paperwork including manifests, bills of lading, and driver logs.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service during all interactions.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
- Hazardous Materials endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
- Tanker endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull freight weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Proficient in reading and understanding manifests and bills of lading.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LTL freight operations.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience operating various types of commercial vehicles.
- Familiarity with local Sunnyvale/Bay Area routes.
