Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Online Transcriptionist to join our healthcare team as a Medical Scribe. This is a crucial remote role responsible for accurately transcribing medical dictations and documenting patient encounters in real-time or near real-time. The ideal candidate will possess excellent listening skills, a strong understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment. This 100% remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while contributing significantly to patient care by ensuring precise and timely medical records.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe dictated medical reports, patient histories, physical exams, operative reports, consultation notes, and other medical documents.
- Utilize medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, and pharmacology to produce precise and grammatically correct documentation.
- Review and edit transcribed reports for clarity, completeness, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to established medical, legal, and ethical standards, as well as company policies.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) at all times.
- Manage workload effectively to meet established turnaround times and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and team members regarding documentation needs or clarifications.
- Operate and maintain transcription equipment and software efficiently from a remote setting.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Medical Scribe or Medical Transcriptionist
- Exceptional listening and comprehension skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills in English
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- High-speed internet connection and a quiet, dedicated home office space
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized Medical Transcription program (e.g., CMT, RHDS)
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field
- Experience with various medical specialties (e.g., Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics)
- Proficiency with specific transcription software commonly used in healthcare
