Job Description
DuPont is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Chemist to join our night shift team in Downey, CA. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and integrity of our chemical products through rigorous analytical testing and adherence to stringent quality standards. The successful candidate will be a key player in our quality assurance process, contributing directly to our reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine chemical analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer titration).
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, ensuring proper calibration and troubleshooting any issues.
- Document all test results accurately and completely, maintaining detailed laboratory records.
- Interpret data, identify trends, and report out-of-specification results promptly to production and management.
- Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety regulations.
- Participate in the investigation of quality deviations, out-of-specification results, and customer complaints.
- Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods as needed.
- Ensure a clean and organized laboratory environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- 2+ years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory, preferably in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis).
- Strong understanding of GMP and GLP principles.
- Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
- Previous experience working a night shift schedule.
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
