Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable Refuse Loaders / Bin Collectors to join our team in Washington D.C. This vital role involves collecting and loading various types of waste materials from residential and commercial bins onto collection vehicles. You will play a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness and environmental health of our community. This position requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and a commitment to early morning starts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually load refuse, recycling, and yard waste into collection vehicles.
- Operate hydraulic lift mechanisms and compaction equipment on the vehicle.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and traffic laws.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with fellow team members and supervisors.
- Report any service interruptions, hazards, or incidents promptly.
- Ensure bins are returned neatly and safely to their designated spots.
- Assist with route navigation and record-keeping as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English for safety instructions and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in waste collection, general labor, or a physically demanding role.
- Knowledge of local waste disposal regulations in Washington D.C.
- Valid state driver's license (not required for all loader positions, but a plus for potential advancement).
