Job Description

Are you looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity where you can make a real difference in your community? Carmel Clay Schools is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as School Bus Drivers. No prior experience driving a bus is required – we provide comprehensive, paid training to help you obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements. This role is perfect for retirees, stay-at-home parents, or anyone seeking a flexible schedule with meaningful impact. You will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring their well-being and a positive start and end to their school day. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and district policies.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and its special equipment.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during transport, loading, and unloading.
  • Maintain order and positive behavior among students on the bus.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and supervisors.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including mileage logs and incident reports.
  • Attend all required safety meetings and training sessions.

Required Skills

  • Valid US driver's license for at least 3 years.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical examination.
  • Strong commitment to safety and student well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a split shift schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or in customer service.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for serving the community.
