Home Instead in Vallejo, CA is seeking dedicated Shopping & Mobility Aides to provide essential support and companionship to our elderly clients. As a Shopping & Mobility Aide, you will play a crucial role in helping seniors maintain their independence and engage with their community. Your responsibilities will include assisting with grocery shopping, running errands, providing safe transportation to appointments, and offering mobility support and companionship. Key Responsibilities
- Assist seniors with grocery shopping, personal errands, and other necessary outings.
- Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation to medical appointments, social engagements, and community activities.
- Offer empathetic companionship, engaging in conversation and light activities to foster well-being.
- Support clients with mobility within their homes and during outdoor excursions, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Help organize shopping lists, manage basic budgeting during outings, and assist with unpacking groceries.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment during visits, respecting client's personal space and belongings.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with clients, their family members, and the Home Instead care team, reporting any concerns or changes in condition.
Required Skills
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation with current proof of vehicle insurance.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Profound patience, empathy, and a genuinely compassionate demeanor.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and provide assistance with client mobility as needed.
- Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in elder care, personal assistance, or a similar support role.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with the Vallejo and Mare Island areas, including local resources and amenities.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
