Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Tally Man to join our logistics and shipping team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for accurately counting, verifying, and recording incoming and outgoing shipments. Your meticulous work ensures the integrity of our inventory and the efficiency of our shipping processes. This position requires a strong focus on accuracy, a commitment to safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately count and verify quantities of goods against shipping documents (bills of lading, invoices, manifests).
- Identify and report discrepancies, damages, or shortages in shipments.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all tallied items, utilizing both manual and electronic systems.
- Ensure proper labeling and tagging of all cargo for accurate tracking and storage.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff, loaders, and drivers to facilitate smooth loading and unloading operations.
- Adhere to all company safety regulations and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Operate basic material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack) as needed, with proper training.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven ability to perform basic mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in counting and recording.
- Excellent observational skills to identify discrepancies or damages.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and record-keeping.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Tally Man, Stock Clerk, or in a similar inventory/logistics role.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Certification or experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- Understanding of shipping and receiving procedures.
