Job Description

Join the dedicated team at Goodwill Quebec as a Thrift / Charity Shop Sorting Assistant. This backroom role is crucial to our operations, ensuring that donated items are processed efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for receiving, sorting, and preparing a wide variety of donations for sale on our retail floor or for recycling. This flexible position is ideal for individuals who are organized, have an eye for detail, and are passionate about contributing to a sustainable and community-focused mission. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming donations from donors and collection bins.
  • Sort donated items (clothing, household goods, electronics, books, etc.) according to established guidelines.
  • Inspect items for quality, cleanliness, and salability.
  • Categorize and price items accurately for retail display.
  • Prepare items for the sales floor, including hanging, folding, and ticketing.
  • Identify and set aside items for recycling or disposal.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe backroom sorting area.
  • Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as needed.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of item quality and value.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in retail, warehouse, or sorting roles.
