Job Description
Join UPS as a Driving Instructor and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our world-class driving team. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive training to new and existing drivers, ensuring they meet UPS’s stringent safety standards and operational protocols. This position requires a passion for teaching, an unwavering commitment to safety, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information. You will guide trainees through both classroom instruction and hands-on driving exercises, preparing them to expertly navigate various driving conditions and uphold UPS’s reputation for reliable service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel training for prospective and current UPS drivers.
- Instruct on UPS's specific driving methods, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance (DOT, FMCSA).
- Evaluate trainee performance, providing constructive feedback and necessary remediation.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Stay current with best practices in driver training and transportation safety regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and professionalism among all trainees.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of training materials and curricula.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an excellent driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to instruct and motivate diverse groups of adult learners.
- Thorough understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a driving instructor or trainer in a commercial setting.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training techniques.
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Transportation, or a related field.
