Job Description
Are you passionate about fashion, design, and creating visually stunning displays? Macy’s is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Visual Merchandising Assistant (Trainee) to join our dynamic team in Carytown, Richmond, VA. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience, as full, comprehensive training will be provided. You will learn the art and science of visual merchandising, contributing to the creation of captivating store environments that enhance the customer experience and drive sales. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Visual Merchandising Manager in executing creative visual displays and merchandise presentations according to company guidelines and seasonal themes.
- Learn to interpret visual directives and adapt them to the unique layout and merchandise assortment of the store.
- Participate in the setup and takedown of window displays, in-store fixtures, and promotional areas.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of props, tools, and visual storage areas.
- Support the team in managing inventory of visual elements and communicating needs.
- Ensure all visual elements adhere to brand standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with sales associates and management to ensure visual standards are maintained throughout the day.
- Provide input and fresh ideas for visual strategies during team meetings.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong interest in fashion, retail, and visual arts
- Ability to work hands-on and lift/move merchandise and fixtures
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Some coursework or a degree in fashion, interior design, visual arts, or a related field (not mandatory)
- Previous experience in retail or customer service (not mandatory, full training provided)
- Basic knowledge of current fashion trends and display techniques
