Job Description
Are you passionate about design, aesthetics, and creating captivating retail environments? Hudson’s Bay is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Visual Merchandising Assistant (Trainee) to join our Winnipeg team. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals with little to no prior experience in visual merchandising. We will provide comprehensive, full training to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this creative and fast-paced role. You will learn the art of visual storytelling, contributing to the creation of compelling displays that enhance the customer shopping experience and drive sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Visual Merchandising Manager in planning and executing in-store displays and promotions.
- Learn and apply visual merchandising guidelines to maintain brand consistency and appeal.
- Set up and dismantle seasonal and promotional displays, including mannequins, fixtures, and signage.
- Arrange merchandise artfully, ensuring proper product presentation, signage, and pricing.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of display areas and stock rooms.
- Collaborate with sales associates and store management to ensure merchandise is visually appealing and easily accessible.
- Conduct regular store walks to identify visual opportunities and maintain high standards.
- Stay informed on current fashion trends and competitor visual strategies.
- Handle and move store fixtures and merchandise safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in fashion, retail, and visual aesthetics.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry merchandise and fixtures (up to 25 lbs).
- Enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of design principles or color theory.
- A creative portfolio (even if personal projects) showcasing an eye for design.
- Previous experience in a retail environment (any role).
