Job Description
Pasco-Hernando State College is seeking a motivated and reliable Weekend Student Bookstore Clerk to join our team in an academic setting at our New Port Richey campus. This part-time position is ideal for a current student looking to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the campus community. The Clerk will be responsible for assisting customers, processing transactions, managing inventory, and maintaining a welcoming and organized store environment primarily during weekend hours. This role offers flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff, assisting with book and merchandise selection.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems to accurately process cash, credit, and debit transactions.
- Handle cash responsibly, including making change and balancing registers.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing inventory, ensuring shelves are well-maintained.
- Help customers locate textbooks, supplies, and college apparel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment.
- Answer phones and respond to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
- Assist with special sales events, promotions, and end-of-semester buyback programs.
Required Skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mathematical skills for cash handling and transactions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current enrollment as a student at Pasco-Hernando State College or another local academic institution.
- Previous retail or customer service experience, especially in a bookstore setting.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
