Job Description
Richelieu Hardware Ltd. is seeking a meticulous and efficient Precision Plinth Cutter to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and high-quality preparation of plinths (skirting boards, kickboards, and other decorative base elements) used in custom cabinetry and millwork projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating specialized cutting equipment to produce precise cuts according to specifications, with compensation directly tied to the volume and quality of meters worked. Key Responsibilities
- Operate precision cutting machinery (e.g., panel saws, beam saws, CNC routers) to cut plinths and other lineal materials to exact specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders to determine cutting requirements and dimensions.
- Measure and verify material dimensions, ensuring accuracy and minimal waste.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on cutting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Monitor material quality and identify any defects before or during the cutting process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with production team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of orders.
- Meet daily and weekly production targets based on meters worked while maintaining high quality standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating cutting machinery, preferably in a millwork, cabinetry, or manufacturing environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to precision.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and measurements.
- Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations for material optimization.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and practices.
- Physical dexterity and stamina to handle materials and operate machinery for extended periods.
- Reliable and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in woodworking, cabinet making, or a related trade.
- Experience with CNC programming or advanced automated cutting systems.
- Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
- Previous experience in a piece-rate or performance-based compensation structure.
