Job Description
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of rescued wildlife? We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Wildlife Rescue Center Laborer to join our compassionate team. This rewarding role involves rigorous cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures, facilities, and surrounding areas at our wildlife rescue center. Your essential contributions will ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all animals under our care, directly supporting their rehabilitation and eventual release. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to animal welfare, even when the work is demanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough daily cleaning and disinfection of animal enclosures, cages, and habitats according to established protocols.
- Sanitize feeding dishes, water bowls, and other equipment used for animal care.
- Clean and maintain common areas, treatment rooms, storage facilities, and outdoor spaces within the rescue center.
- Assist with laundry duties, including washing and folding bedding and towels for animals.
- Remove waste and debris from all areas of the center, ensuring proper disposal.
- Monitor facility conditions and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Contribute to the general upkeep of the rescue center grounds, including sweeping, mopping, and minor repairs as needed.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of cleaning agents and personal protective equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (for outdoor cleaning tasks).
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining impeccable hygiene standards.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of animal welfare principles and a compassionate attitude towards animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning, labor, or animal care role (e.g., kennel assistant, farm work, janitorial).
- Familiarity with animal waste disposal and sanitation procedures.
- Experience working in a non-profit or animal-related organization.
