Job Description
Join UPS as a skilled Fleet Mechanic with a strong focus on heavy diesel equipment! In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing UPS’s diverse fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, ensuring their operational reliability and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and complete necessary repairs in accordance with UPS safety and operational standards.
- Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve vehicle malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and safety.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and operations staff to ensure fleet readiness.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a heavy diesel mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, diagnostics, and repair.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and hand/power tools.
- Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Certifications (especially T-series).
- Experience with specific truck brands (e.g., Freightliner, International, Volvo).
- Associate's degree or vocational training in Diesel Technology.
- Familiarity with DOT inspection requirements.
