Job Description

Are you passionate about animals and looking to start your career in veterinary care? VCA Canada Metrotown Animal Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Vet Clinic Helper to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with no prior experience in a clinic setting, as we provide comprehensive animal handling training. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients and supporting our veterinary staff in daily operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint and handling during examinations and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, examination rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites.
  • Feed, water, and walk hospitalized animals according to established protocols.
  • Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to veterinary staff.
  • Sterilize surgical instruments and prepare packs for procedures.
  • Stock supplies in examination rooms and treatment areas.
  • Perform general clinic maintenance tasks, including laundry and waste disposal.
  • Provide compassionate care and comfort to all animal patients.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Genuine love and compassion for animals
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Reliable and punctual

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience volunteering at an animal shelter or rescue organization
  • Basic knowledge of animal behavior
  • First aid certification for humans (animal first aid training will be provided)
