Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and driven Junior Google Designer with a strong focus on User Interface (UI) design to join our dynamic team in Wichita, KS. This entry-level role is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring designer to contribute to the creation of intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and user-centric digital experiences across Google’s vast product ecosystem. You will work closely with senior designers, product managers, and engineers to translate user needs and business requirements into compelling visual designs and interactive prototypes. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of user interfaces for Google products and features.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and sitemaps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Develop high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes using design tools like Figma or Adobe XD.
- Collaborate with senior designers to implement Google's design system guidelines and maintain consistency across products.
- Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
- Conduct basic usability testing and gather feedback to inform design decisions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies.
- Prepare and present design concepts to internal teams and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Foundational understanding of UI design principles and methodologies.
- Proficiency with at least one major design tool (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
- Ability to create wireframes, mockups, and basic prototypes.
- Strong visual design skills with an excellent eye for typography, color, and layout.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design choices.
- A portfolio demonstrating UI design skills, even if from academic projects or personal work.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Google's Material Design guidelines.
- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better communicate with engineers.
- Experience with user research and usability testing methods.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
