Job Description
Are you an energetic and compassionate individual looking for an immediate opportunity to make a difference in a healthcare setting? Sharp HealthCare is seeking dedicated Hospital Patient Transporters to join our dynamic team. This active role involves safely and efficiently moving patients to and from various hospital departments, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their journey. You will be a vital part of the patient care experience, contributing to smooth hospital operations and providing crucial support to medical staff. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle physical demands in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, gurneys, or beds to and from patient rooms, treatment areas, diagnostic labs, and other hospital departments.
- Assist patients with transfers to and from transport equipment, ensuring proper body mechanics and patient safety.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding transport procedures and estimated arrival times.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper working order of transport equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues promptly.
- Respond to transport requests in a timely manner, prioritizing urgent needs as directed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
- Provide compassionate support and reassurance to patients during transport.
Required Skills
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and maneuver patients and equipment safely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Basic understanding of patient safety and infection control principles.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
