Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Technical Writer to join our Documentation & Support team. In this 100% remote role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for Google’s diverse range of products and services. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and support teams to ensure that our internal and external users have access to clear, comprehensive, and accurate information. This position requires a strong understanding of complex technical concepts and the ability to translate them into user-friendly language for various audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, tutorials, release notes, and FAQs.
- Collaborate with product teams, engineers, and support specialists to gather information and ensure accuracy of content.
- Conduct thorough reviews and edits of documentation to ensure grammatical correctness, consistency, and adherence to Google's style guidelines.
- Identify gaps in existing documentation and propose solutions to improve content accessibility and usability.
- Manage documentation projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with product changes and industry trends to continuously improve documentation quality.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation standards, templates, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a software or technology company.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and explain them clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Markdown, Confluence, GitHub, Google Docs).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Portfolio of technical writing samples demonstrating clarity and conciseness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, English, Technical Communication, or a related field.
- Experience with specific programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) or cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with UX principles and information architecture.
- Experience with localization and internationalization best practices.
