Job Description

Capgemini is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Google Database Developer with a strong focus on SQL and Big Data technologies. This is a pivotal remote role where you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust database solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. You will work on challenging projects, leveraging your expertise in SQL, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and other Google Cloud data services to build scalable and efficient data architectures that drive business intelligence and operational excellence. This role demands a proactive individual who is passionate about data, understands complex data models, and can translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas within Google Cloud Platform environments, including BigQuery and Cloud SQL.
  • Implement and manage Big Data solutions using GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
  • Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and business analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient database designs.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and performance across all database systems.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into GCP data warehouses.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures for optimization.
  • Participate in code reviews, enforce best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of data development processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers on GCP data technologies and SQL best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Google Cloud data services and features, recommending and implementing new technologies where appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Database Developer with a strong focus on SQL.
  • Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services, specifically BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Dataflow.
  • Solid understanding of Big Data concepts and experience with related technologies.
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL, including complex queries, window functions, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with schema design, data modeling, and database normalization/denormalization techniques.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing principles and ETL/ELT methodologies.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Java) for data manipulation and automation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Database Engineer certification.
  • Experience with other GCP services like Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, or Dataproc.
  • Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for database deployments.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and connecting them to GCP data sources.
