Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Receptionist Assistant to join our busy medical practice in Wesley Chapel. This vital role supports our front desk operations, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all patients and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will be the first point of contact for many of our patients, playing a crucial part in their healthcare journey. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer multi-line phones, direct calls, and take accurate messages.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing the calendar efficiently.
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays/payments.
- Maintain patient records with strict adherence to confidentiality guidelines (HIPAA).
- Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.
- Ensure the reception area remains tidy and presentable.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Handle patient inquiries and provide basic information about services.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite).
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Customer service-oriented approach.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience of at least 1 year in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical scheduling software (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance procedures.
- Associate's degree in a related field.
