Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Professional Home Organizer – Decluttering Specialist to join our growing team. This role involves working directly with clients in their homes to assess their needs, develop customized organizing plans, and implement practical solutions for decluttering and space optimization. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a genuine desire to help clients achieve a more organized and peaceful living environment. You will be responsible for guiding clients through the decluttering process, teaching sustainable organizing habits, and transforming various residential spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial client consultations to understand organizing needs and goals.
- Develop and implement personalized organizing plans for various areas of the home (kitchens, closets, offices, basements, etc.).
- Guide clients through the decluttering and sorting process, helping them make decisions about what to keep, donate, sell, or discard.
- Categorize and organize items efficiently, suggesting and utilizing appropriate storage solutions.
- Educate clients on maintaining organized systems and developing sustainable habits.
- Provide compassionate and non-judgmental support throughout the organizing process.
- Source and recommend organizing products tailored to client needs and budget.
- Manage project timelines and ensure client satisfaction with results.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in home organizing, interior design, or a related field.
- Proven ability to declutter, categorize, and organize various household items and spaces.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong client-focused approach.
- High level of empathy, patience, and discretion.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking for space optimization.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to client homes across Toronto.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized organizing association (e.g., POC, NAPO).
- Experience with specialty organizing challenges (e.g., chronic disorganization, downsizing, bereavement organizing).
- Familiarity with various organizing methodologies and principles.
- Experience in customer service or a client-facing role.
