Job Description

Are you eager to kickstart a career in IT and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic field environment? We’re looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Technical Offsiders. This entry-level role is perfect for those who are ready to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and enjoy practical, outdoor work. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications and IT infrastructure across various locations. This is a unique opportunity to learn valuable technical skills directly in the field, with comprehensive training provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with the installation, configuration, and testing of telecommunications equipment, including fibre optic cables, broadband connections, and network devices.
  • Support fault finding and repair activities for IT and network issues at customer premises and infrastructure sites.
  • Learn and apply safety protocols and procedures while working at heights, in confined spaces, or with electrical equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are always in good working order.
  • Document work performed, complete necessary paperwork, and update system records accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members, providing clear updates and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Required Skills

  • A strong desire to learn and develop a career in IT/telecommunications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly motivated.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks, including lifting and working in various weather conditions.
  • Valid UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain one) is essential for field-based work.
  • Basic understanding of technology or a keen interest in how things work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a labour-intensive or practical role.
  • Any relevant vocational training or qualifications in electronics, engineering, or IT.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and safety procedures.
  • Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented role.
