Job Description
Join Airgas as a Dry Ice Press Assistant and become a vital part of our production team in Seattle. In this hands-on role, you will operate and maintain dry ice pressing machinery within a specialized sub-zero environment. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, precise material handling, and a keen eye for quality. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe production of dry ice blocks and pellets, contributing directly to our supply chain for critical applications across various industries. This is a physically demanding role that offers excellent opportunities for growth within a global leader in industrial gases.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor dry ice press machines to ensure efficient production.
- Load and unload raw materials (liquid CO2 into the press) and finished dry ice products.
- Perform routine quality checks on dry ice products for size, density, and consistency.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all safety regulations, especially those related to cryogenic materials and sub-zero temperatures.
- Assist with minor machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting under supervision.
- Document production data and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Handle and store dry ice according to company procedures, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet production targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to work safely and comfortably in a sub-zero, cold storage environment for extended periods.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures, particularly regarding industrial machinery and cryogenic materials.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long durations.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating and monitoring machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including insulated clothing, gloves, and face shields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment operation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift certification or experience.
