Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic individual with boundless energy and a passion for the outdoors? REI Co-op is looking for a dynamic Outdoor Adventure Helper to join our team in Rancho Cucamonga. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on activity, enjoys assisting others, and is eager to support a wide range of outdoor programs and events. You will be an integral part of creating memorable and safe experiences for our members and customers, helping to facilitate everything from hiking excursions to community outdoor workshops. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of outdoor adventure programs and events.
  • Support lead instructors and guides during various activities such as hikes, trail clean-ups, and outdoor skill workshops.
  • Engage with participants, ensuring their safety and enjoyment during all activities.
  • Help organize and manage equipment, ensuring it is properly maintained and accounted for.
  • Provide basic information and encouragement to participants of all ages and skill levels.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic attitude, fostering a welcoming environment for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Perform light administrative tasks related to program registration and participant waivers as needed.

Required Skills

  • High level of physical energy and ability to perform active tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and a desire to help others enjoy them.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of outdoor safety principles.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a camp counselor, recreation leader, or similar role.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of local trails and outdoor recreational opportunities in the Rancho Cucamonga area.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, including children and adults.
