Job Description
Are you a high school student looking for a valuable entry-level opportunity in the hospitality industry? The Hilton Fort Wayne is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic High School Laundry Aide to join our dynamic team. This part-time position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the foundational aspects of hotel operations, specifically focusing on maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and linen supply. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our guests have fresh, clean linens, directly contributing to their comfort and satisfaction. This is an on-site role that offers practical experience in a professional hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sorting, washing, drying, and folding a variety of hotel linens, including towels, sheets, and uniforms, in accordance with established procedures.
- Operating laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, and pressing machines safely and efficiently.
- Inspecting linens for stains or damage and reporting any issues to a supervisor.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laundry area, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
- Stocking linen closets and delivering clean linens to various departments as needed.
- Assisting with inventory counts of linen supplies.
- Working collaboratively with other housekeeping and hotel staff to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and pushing/pulling laundry carts.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure linens are clean and properly folded.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laundry setting, even household, is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to support hotel operations.
- Enrollment in high school or equivalent.
