Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join our dynamic team at Southwest Veterinary Hospital. This is an incredible opportunity for a talented DVM/VMD looking to practice high-quality medicine and surgery in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex surgical procedures on a variety of animal species, primarily small animals.
- Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and develop comprehensive surgical plans.
- Provide excellent post-operative care, including pain management and rehabilitation guidance.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to accurately diagnose surgical conditions.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other veterinarians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses.
- Participate in emergency on-call rotation as required.
- Adhere to all hospital protocols, safety regulations, and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility or current licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Texas.
- Proven surgical proficiency in both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a small animal surgical internship or residency program.
- Board certification or actively pursuing board certification in veterinary surgery.
- Experience with advanced imaging modalities (e.g., CT, MRI).
- Special interest or expertise in a specific area of veterinary surgery.
