Job Description
Are you passionate about building welcoming online spaces and making people feel at home? Unity Technologies is seeking an enthusiastic and empathetic Online Community Greeter to join our vibrant community team. This entry-level, fully remote role is perfect for someone who loves engaging with new users, answering initial questions, and setting a positive tone across our forums, Discord servers, and other community platforms. You’ll be the first point of contact for many new members, helping them navigate our resources and connect with fellow creators. Your friendly demeanor and proactive support will be crucial in fostering a supportive and thriving environment for all Unity users.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively monitor designated online community platforms (forums, Discord, social media groups) for new member introductions.
- Proactively welcome new members with personalized, encouraging messages and helpful resources.
- Answer common initial questions and direct users to appropriate support channels or community sections.
- Encourage new member participation in discussions and activities.
- Identify and escalate complex issues or potential community conflicts to senior moderators/community managers.
- Help onboard new members by providing guidance on community guidelines and best practices.
- Gather feedback from new members to help improve the onboarding experience.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere within the community.
Required Skills
- Excellent written communication skills with a friendly and approachable tone.
- Demonstrated empathy and a genuine desire to help others.
- Familiarity with online community platforms such as Discord, forums, and social media groups.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Basic understanding of online etiquette and community moderation principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an online community member, moderator, or greeter (even in a volunteer capacity).
- Familiarity with the Unity platform or game development ecosystem.
- Experience with customer support or service roles.
- Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
