Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children? The Banff Early Learning Centre is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Preschool Helper (Assistant). This is a unique opportunity for aspiring Early Childhood Educators to kickstart their career, gain invaluable hands-on experience, and receive support towards obtaining your Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certifications. You will work alongside experienced educators, assisting with daily activities, creating a safe and engaging learning environment, and contributing to the developmental journey of our children. If you have a love for children, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn and grow, we encourage you to apply – no prior experience required!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead educators in implementing daily routines and educational activities.
  • Supervise children during playtime, meal times, and nap times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Support children with personal care tasks, including toileting and handwashing.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities, fostering their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with children, parents, and staff members.
  • Observe and report any concerns regarding children's development or behavior to lead educators.
  • Participate in professional development and ECE certification programs as required.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love for children and a passion for early childhood education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience volunteering or working with children (e.g., babysitting, camp counselor).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • A strong desire to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education and achieve ECE certification.
